Who is Discipling you?

Church Family,

I am praying for you this morning. May God give you the opportunity to share the gospel with others, minister to others, and grow in your faith this week. Can I ask that you join me in praying for mission ideas for this summer? If you have ideas will you share them. Our hope is to reach our Jerusalem.

John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.

Who is discipling you? Who are you discipling? These are important questions that every believer should be able to answer. While I preached on this passage this Sunday, I didn’t take the time to point out the obvious. If we fail to become a disciple, it is not the fault of God.

Notice that God the Father specifically watches over us and cares for our growth in Christ. Yes, we are responsible for responding to God, but God makes it clear that He is our vinedresser, ultimate discipler. Who is God using in your life to develop your relationship with God? Who are you intentionally attempting to disciple? What steps have you taken today to grow as a disciple/disciple maker?

Reminders:

  1. Easter Services: 6:45am Sunrise Service, 7am Worship service, and last fellowship Breakfast. These are all of the services for the day.

The Resurrection in the Old Testament

Church Family,

I am so excited about the Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow morning from 11 to 1pm. I also get excited reading and searching the scriptures. Did you know that one of the major differences between the Pharisees and Sadducees is that the Sadducees didn’t believe in the resurrection? (That’s why they are Sad u see, lol) I’ve often wonder how they even knew about the resurrection?

Ezekiel 37:12-14 Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel.13And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. 14And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I am the LORD; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the LORD.”

Not only should the life that Christ lived proved that He was the Son of God, but His resurrection also. The Israelites should have remembered this passage. I am so thankful that even though I don’t deserve and can’t earn it, God has given me eternal life. What did I do? I believed in Jesus, repented of my sins, and confessed Him as Lord. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins according to the bible, was buried, and rose from the dead on the 3rd day according to the bible. Everyone who does this will live for all of eternity with Jesus!

I don’t know what you are searching for in life, but can I challenge to seek out Christ above all things?

Reminders:

  1. Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow morning from 11 to 1pm. Lunch will be served.
  2. Easter Services are as follows: 6:45 Sunrise service in the Cemetery, 7am worship in the Sanctuary, and last, breakfast. We will not have any other services.

Dry Bones come to life

Church Family,

We hope to see you tonight at the prayer meeting. Last night we had a great Brotherhood meeting where we heard the gospel and were reminded of the change that the gospel brings to someone’s life. There is no other message as powerful as the Gospel. Today’s Bible reading demonstrates this. The nation of Israel was spiritually dead and physically dying due to their sin and God’s judgement. What could ever change the life filled with sin?

Ezekiel 37:3-5 And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord GOD, you know.” 4Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.

The Seminary Professor took his class of future preachers to the Cemetery for their first class every year. He would begin the class by asking the students to speak as passionately as they could without the Bible in the hopes that they could raise the dead. The point was quickly made that man can not raise the dead. Only the Word of God and the Spirit of God could save the lost.

Believer we must share the Word of God and pray that the Spirit of God would convict the lost. Without the Word of God and the Spirit no one will be saved.

Can I encourage you to seek out opportunities to share the most important and powerful message of all with others today? Be sensitive to the Spirit while speaking with others where you live, work, and play. I am praying for you today. May the Word of God be shared freely and abundantly through you this week.

Reminders:

  1. Prayer meeting tonight at 7pm.
  2. Saturday from 11 to 1pm we are having our Easter Egg Hunt. All are welcomed and invited.
  3. Our Easter Sunday services schedule begins at 6:45 in the Cemetery, 7am in the Sanctuary, and last a fellowship Breakfast. There are no other services.
  4. We are looking for ideas and recommendations for mission projects in and around our Church. If you know of anyone in need please share it with me.

Pray for your Pastors

Church Family,

I read last night about a sheriff in Alabama who used the leftover lunch money for the prisoners he was supposed to care for to buy a $750,000 beach house. Back in world war 2 the state began allowing the sheriffs to legally keep any money left over in the account used to feed the inmates. This sheriff legally used the money, but morally what he did was questionable at best and at worst should be prosecuted.

Ezekiel 34:7-10 “Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD: 8As I live, declares the Lord GOD, surely because my sheep have become a prey, and my sheep have become food for all the wild beasts, since there was no shepherd, and because my shepherds have not searched for my sheep, but the shepherds have fed themselves, and have not fed my sheep, 9therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD: 10Thus says the Lord GOD, Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require my sheep at their hand and put a stop to their feeding the sheep. No longer shall the shepherds feed themselves. I will rescue my sheep from their mouths, that they may not be food for them.

I’ve preached on this passage many times throughout my ministry. I do not take lightly the charge that God has given me as an undershepherd. Yet, I realize more and more each day that I need your prayers. There are so many areas that I need to grow and decrease that Christ might increase.

Can I kindly ask you today to pray for your church leaders, pastors, deacons, teachers, etc.? I thank you in advance.

How to pray?

Pray for my family. Since October 29th our family has been hit hard with health issues. In the last 2 weeks alone Natalie has had emergency surgery, Michael Brian has been fighting RSV, and now Aubree has it. Her temperature was 104.3 last night and this morning.

Pray that I will be a good husband and father. Pray that I will spend time in God’s word. Pray for that area of weakness that you see in my life. Pray that God will use me as He wishes.

Reminders:

  1. This Sunday please turn in any candy for the Easter Egg Hunt that is coming up March 24th from 11am to 1pm. Lunch will be served.
  2. Easter Services are as follows: 6:45 Sunrise Service, 7am Worship service inside, and last breakfast. There will be no more services that day.

Trees

Church Family,

I hope that you are having a great day so far. My Bible reading was cool this morning. I read how God described Pharaoh as being like a tree, but no ordinary tree. This tree was so tall, so big, and so fruitful that the trees from the garden of Eden envied it. Yet, the pride of the tree led to its fall and judgement.

Ezekiel 31:18 “Whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? You shall be brought down with the trees of Eden to the world below. You shall lie among the uncircumcised, with those who are slain by the sword. “This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, declares the Lord GOD.”

God had blessed Pharaoh and all of his people. So much that He and the people grew to be bigger, stronger, and more fruitful than any other in its time. This story hits too close to home. How often do we boast in who we are, what we can do, or what we have, rather than in God? When we lift ourselves above God in this life, God brings us down for eternity. The bible says that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord. Many will do this for the first time when they get to heaven, but then it will be too late. They like Pharaoh will spend eternity below, in Hell. Turn to Jesus today. See that God is the one that blesses you. God gave you that strength, knowledge, money, power, etc.

Reminders:

  1. Candy is due this Sunday to help with the Easter Egg Hunt.
  2. The Egg Hunt is Saturday March 24th from 11-1.
  3. Money for the Women of Joy Conference is due this Sunday. See Blaire for details.
  4. Our Easter services are as follows: 6:45 Sunrise service in the cemetery, followed by the morning service in the Sanctuary, and last we will eat breakfast. These will be the only services we have that day.
