Good tears vs. Bad tears

Church Family,

I walked into the room all prayed up and ready to share the gosepl. After a quick question to check the person openness to the gospel it hit me. Their response to the question was, "I know I've been living like the devil and I'm sorry."

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

1st I truly believe the person meant what they said.

2nd this morning I woke up with a cloud over me. It was filled with disappointment, hurt, anger, etc. I woke up ready to apologize to my wife and the world for being such a terrible person, but notice that my sorrow wasn't leading me to God. So during my prayer time God simply knocked on my heart. Brian, you have a sorrow that leads to death, but not repentance. You see Satan loves to make us feel bad. He loves it more when we go on an, "I am sorry" tour to everyone that was affected by our wrongs, but Satan never wants us to get things right with who really matters. I believe that many people are suffering from this. They TRULY are sorry, but have not realized that only God can restore them. Their apologies while heartfelt, aren't enough. Their depression from it is real. The feeling of just not wanting to be around others is real. The temptation to walk in death is real.

So let me tell you what your sin and Satan are not telling you. Jesus loves to restore people. He loves to save us. He loves to take our shame, sin, guilt, hurt, pain, wounds, and nail them to the cross where His precious blood not only pays for our sins, but also cleanses us from them.

If you are walking in sorrow, find another mature believer and talk with them. My wife and I would consider it an honor to walk with you through your journey of faith. There are many other believers who are willing to do the same thing.

3rd the person truly meant they were sorry, but all their sorrow was directed at the people they had hurt. I pray that one day they will realize they need to turn from their sin, ask God to forgive them and trust in Jesus for salvation. Psalm 51:3-4 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me4Against you(God), you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.

Proclaim the Excellencies of Christ

Church Family,

1 Peter 2:11Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.

We are merely passing through here on Earth. Our real home is in Heaven. How does that change things? Well, Satan presents our battles as being against the flesh. Our battles often make us think of how to change the now instead of how to live for eternity.

Right now if you are believer, your soul is having a war waged against. Which will you find to be more excellent, the world we live in or the one to come?

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Jesus is the perfect example of one who showed others that the pleasures of this world dont compare to the pleasures of living for God. In fact, Jesus is the perfect example of one who shows that the suffering the we endure is nothing compared to joy of living for God.

1 Peter 2:20-25 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. 21For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. 22He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. 23When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. 24He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 25For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Just not feeling it today

Church Family,

I wish I could say that I'm writing as one that has been filled with the Spirit this morning. I wish I could say that everything was perfect. I wish the words would just roll off my tongue(fingers?), but I don't feel like any of those things is true right now. In fact, life often is a mess. Today in my time with God I read James 5:7-8 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. 8You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

2 things: 1) We should live for the coming of the Lord. Whether that is at our death or at the 2nd coming of Christ.

2) I've never farmed, but can you name a harder life? It is filled with Faith, if I plant this, then I trust that God will grow it. I trust that God will send rain and provide sunlight. Some of you know the pain and difficultly. We all know the pain of living in this world. We know our hurt and our pain. The pains that no medicine can touch and no amount of scrubbing can remove.

So what do we do? Do we quit? Do we give up? No, we look for the coming of the Lord. We see what is there but hasn't been revealed yet. Church don't give up. Your limp, like Jacob's limp, is a testimony of God's goodness. It is reminder that Jesus is coming and that the promises of God are greater than the pains of today.

Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

James 5:11 Behold, we consider those blessed who remained steadfast. You have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful.

52

Church Family,

Praise God for His presence yesterday throughout our small groups and worship times! Take a moment today church to thank God for the 52 that were invited to church last week. Commit to keep praying for those that were Invited and keep seeking to Invite others this week. When that is done add one last praise, do you realize the number of church members that are faithfully inviting others? What a wonderful God we serve? Thank you for your faithfullness to God's call on your life. Our total over 3 weeks is 181 people invited.

Thank God for Tony Collins! Every Monday morning I use what Tony set up years ago in order to put sermons online. What Tony did once still applies and works everytime I use our website. Before then I had to search the web and hope that what I found worked.

This morning in my Bible reading I read Hebrews 10:1 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near.

All illustrations and example fail when compared to Jesus, but what the law could not do, Jesus did. The law can not perfect us, can not remove sin, can not improve us, etc. Yet, Jesus can do all those things. Similarly what Tony did years ago when still applied, works. Believer if you are still trying to perfect yourself through the law STOP. It won't work.

Hebrews 9:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Hebrews 9:38-39 but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” 39But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

What's God saying to you this morning?

Love, Serve, Go

Hebrews 9

Church Family,

This Sunday I've been preparing to preach Matthew 13, the Parable of the Sower. The question that I have been asking myself is how do I prepare for Revival. I want to encourage you to read Matthew 13's Parable of the Sower to the prepare for worship this Sunday. Revival needs prayer, God's Word, the Spirit of God and a willing heart.

Confession time: I struggled mightily with what to write today. When I struggle I want to keep things simple, so let me share some of my favorite verses from my bible reading.

Hebrews 9:13-14  For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

Hebrews 9:28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.

How has God encouraged you today through your bible reading?

As you eagerly wait on Him to come back, take some time today to dwell on how much more Jesus is able to purify our conscience from dead works(past and future sins) in order that we can serve the living God.

Challenge:

Today serve the Lord by Inviting others to know Him. Tell someone about Jesus today. Invite them to church before the end of the day.

Continue or begin to pray for Revival

Love, Serve, Go
