Let Worship Lead You

Church Family,

We broke the 1000 Invites mark this Sunday. We are up to 1027.

My daily Worship time today was in Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

If you read the chapter you will find that they have just been kicked out of the city. Things were going so well. In fact, I was hoping to read that the entire city got saved, but instead they were kicked out. How could they be filled with Joy? Their focus was on God and what He was and is doing. Not on what "could" have happened, but what did happen.

In the last 3 months you have Invited 1027 people to church. Be filled with Joy and the Spirit for what God is doing.

Are you still looking for direction is your life? Take notice of Acts 13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

Reminders:

1) Weds at 6pm is Family Fun Night. Hamburgers, hot dogs, kickball, bingo, and a devotion

2) Please be in prayer over the next several months for these events: Shelby Mission Trip(July), Summer Camp(August), Toronto Mission Trip(October) just to name a few.

Saul the Terrorist

Church Family,

I can not shake my devotions from yesterday. Acts 8:1 And Saul approved of his execution.

Saul was a terrorist. One of the worst. He stood and approved of the mob that He had raised up to kill to Stephen. Why does this stick in my mind for so long?

1) It is amazing what God's grace can do. Saul the terrorist will soon become Paul the apostle of God. There is hope for all the lost. Romans 5:20-21 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

2) Who has influence on your life? The life of your church? Do they simply voice their thoughts? Or do they actually live out what they say? Are they sharing their faith or do they simply say that they hope people get saved? I've never met a church that said it didn't want to grow. Yet very few will actually live in a way that demonstrates that desire.

3) Do people know more about what you are against or more about what you are for?

4) If you read the rest the chapter you have to be haunted with the question of was Simon really saved? He was not! But how do you determine that?

HIStory or MYstory

Church Family,

I am reminded more and more just how much I need God's Word. If you read Acts 7 you may have the same question I have: Why did Stephen need to repeat their history to them? Surely they know their own history?

You can not know History or your Bible without knowing it through Christ! This is why so many people, churches, and nations struggle.

Acts 7:51-53 “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you. 52Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, whom you have now betrayed and murdered53you who received the law as delivered by angels and did not keep it.”

1) V53 The people treated the Word as important, but V51 They were stiff necked, uncircumised in heart and ears. They always resist God. They saw their history as theirs and not God's. Is my heart open to what God is revealing about Himself?

2) The more I realize God's love for me, the more I realize how much I resist God. Lord, Forgive me?

3) While reading through Acts I see this theme: Those who are lost are told that they have betrayed and murdered Jesus.

4) What is God showing you during your devotion time?

Give what you got!

Church Member,

There is such an abundance to share out of the worship time I've had over the last 2 days! Yet I will try to keep it short. It began with a trip to worship in Acts 3:6 But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”

God is not asking me to give what I dont have. God ask us to give what we do have. Do you realize the power of your Savior? Do you realize the more that you give of Him, the seemingly more that you get OF Him?

Fast Forward to Chapter 4(You want to read chapters 3 & 4)

Acts 4:32 Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common.

So much of these passage is made of their willingness to give to meet each others needs and it should be, but don't miss the WHY. For what reason are they giving? They are giving so they can glorfiy God by knowing Him and making Him known as Savior. God gave all that He had to reach us. Likewise we should give what we have to reach others for Christ.

Are you giving of your time, talents, gifts, etc to reach others for Christ?

Dont let the beginning of chapter 4 slip by you. The priests were interviewing Peter and John until the "Sadducees came upon them, greatly annoyed." When we elevate people to positions above what God created, they will in time use that position to elevate themselves above God. The Sadducees were a man made group. The priest were God ordained.

In short, dont let man center people guide your walk with God. They will also lead you away from Him.

Love, Serve, Go

Do Souls Matter?

Church Family,

During my morning worship I read the end of Acts 2:47 And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

Do Souls matter? Do they matter to God? Do they matter to you personally?

Who grew the church?

VBS is one of my favorite times of the year. Yet, each year it feels like a week full of Mondays. I struggle to remember which day it is (it is Wednesday, right?). So there is the great temptation to lose focus on why we are doing this. We want to glorify God by making Him known to the lost and saved. That's why I ask if souls matter.

Can I ask you to do 3 things:

1) Pray to the God who saves. 1 Timothy 2:3-4 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2) Seek opportunities to share the gospel. Ephesians 6:19 (pray) and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,

3) Seek Unity because Satan is and will keep attacking. 1 Corinthians 3:6-9 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth8He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.

God wants to save, God wants to grow the church, God is looking for willing servants. Will you continue or begin to pray right now for a passion for the glory of God. That souls maybe saved and believers encouraged.
