Full of what?

Church Family,

During my Bible reading this morning I read, Isaiah 2:6 For you have rejected your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of things from the east and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.

The church is suppose of be a place where we are in the world but not of the world. We are also supposed to distinguish between that which is holy and unholy. The nation of Israel failed to do that. As a result they became more afraid of the people, than of God. Isaiah 2:22 Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?

May we strive to be full of the Holy Spirit and not the things of this world. May we also strive to please God, even when it costs us the wrath of our fellow man.

Reminders:

1) We are up to 1194 Invites since April. Praise the Lord for your faithfulness to tell others about Jesus and His Church.

2) Summer Camp is this Thursday thru Saturday. Email me if you haven't let me know that you are going.

3) What a wonderful time we had worshipping together yesterday. I am so thankful for the testimony that God laid on Ashley Silvey heart.

4) Last year at this time I began keeping track of the monthly website statistics for the church. Each month I print off the stats and compare them to the previous months. The reason being is that most people will visit our website before ever attending our church. In fact, many call church websites the "front door" of the church. The 3 areas I pay most attention to are the number of HOME page visits, GUESTBOOK visits, and SERMONS listened to.

For the last year we have had 10,253 Home page visits. Thats 28 visits a day.  5681 Guestbook visits, 15.5 visits a day.

18,276 Sermons listed to, 50 a day.

There are a lot of other things I would like to do to improve the use of our website, but I am limited in my computer skills. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve our website? I always appreciate your feedback

Animals know their master, do we know ours?

Church Family,

Wow, has it been a challenging week. We have had a Senior Adult with major back surgery (she has still not come home), a child had brain surgery (all updates have been positive, please pray for good results from upcoming test), a member was diagnosed with bladder cancer (pray for guidance, strength, and comfort), and hopefully within the next few hours we will have a new baby in the church family. I mention all this so you can be praying but to also point out that life can be extremely difficult. I have been reminded over and over again lately that God never designed us to go through this alone, but to do it together. Will you continue to go through life together with these families through prayer?

When my heart is heavy I want to read more scripture. Isaiah 1:3 The ox knows its owner, and the donkey its master’s crib, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.” It is impossible to understand God when we don't read His word, obey His commands, and live for Him. The ox/donkey knows and obeys it's master. It knows its master's crib. Is your following of God based on who He is or what He is commanding you to do? Do you know where to find God in the good and bad times? I want to loving challenge you this morning to strive to know and understand God more each day.

Love, Serve, Go

What does life boil down to?

Church Family,

Praise the Lord for Wednesday night prayer service. I can not wait to get together to pray, sing, and hear from God's Word tonight. In my devotion time today God revealed this:

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. 14For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.

What does life boil down to? Solomon points out that in the end life boils down to the need to 1st, Fear God, 2nd Keep His commandments. The reason we should keep His commandments? God will bring every deed into judgement. Every thing that you have or will do, everything that you said or will say, and everything that you have thought or will think of, is going to be judged. Yet, I praise God because 1 John 4:18 says, There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

Perfect love of God has made a way for the forgiveness of your sins, the transforming of your hearts, and a change in your desires. Judgement is coming. Who is able to pay the debt that you owe God? There is none other than Jesus.

The hearts of man

Church Family,

What an amazing outpouring of God's presence during yesterday's service. I have rejoiced time and time again as I recalled those who faithfully responded to where God was leading them. Remember Faith without works is dead.

In my worship time this morning I read Ecclesiastes 9:3 "This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that the same event happens to all. Also, the hearts of the children of man are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead."

The same event is death. What is so true is what God says about us in the next sentence. We are full of evil and madness in our hearts. The evil and madness that fills us is best described in Romans 1:21 "For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened."

When we change who Jesus is in the slighest, or lesson who God is in the slightest, we refuse to honor/glorify Him or give Him thanks. Will you receive Jesus as He is or will you make Him less or more than He is not?

A question I have is who can save us? Who can save us from death? Who can save us from the evil and madness that fills our hearts?

We can not escape death, but we can overcome it through Jesus!

When you hear how they really feel

Church Family,

I can promise you this, no one thinks you are perfect and therefore, no one will always speak positively about everything that you do.

Ecclesiastes 7:20-22 Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins. 21Do not take to heart all the things that people say, lest you hear your servant cursing you. 22Your heart knows that many times you yourself have cursed others.

There is wisdom in remembering that we are sinful, judgemental, and can overreact. The tongue is a powerful thing, as James 3 points out, but we also have to be careful to guard our hearts against what we hear. Satan can take a few small words and rip a life apart. Have you allowed something that you overheard ruin your day, family, or ministry? Have you forgotten how sinful you were and are? If need be to today be willing to forgive others and then seek the forgiveness of God. Don't let Satan sow discord.

Thank you Tammie and April. I have to admit this is a much needed word from God today for my life.

Thanks. Brian, for this reminder. Most of us don't think about the wrong we do, but we always see the wrongs others do. I have to remind myself that GOD doesn't just forgive me, HE forgives those we ask, and I should do the same.
