Prayer, a first response

Church Family,

Tonight we are gathering together to intercede through prayer on behalf of our community against hurricane Irma.

This morning my devotions were on one of my favorite stories. Isaiah 37 is a must read chapter. When the enemy attacks, who do you turn to? Who can save? Who can calm the storm? Chapter 36 gives the context, but Isaiah 37:1 gives the response.

37:1 As soon as King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes and covered himself with sackcloth and went into the house of the LORD.

37:14 Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

Prayer should be our first response to everything in our lives.

When we pray we let the world know:

1) who is in charge

2) Who we trust

3) Where our hope comes from.

Love, Serve, Go

Isaiah 35

Church Family,

Who's voice are you following? Satan is always laboring to keep us from fully trusting in the Lord.

Isaiah 35:2-5

They shall see the glory of the LORD,
the majesty of our God.

3Strengthen the weak hands,
and make firm the feeble knees.
4Say to those who have an anxious heart,
“Be strong; fear not!
Behold, your God
will come with vengeance,
with the recompense of God.
He will come and save you.”

5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
and the ears of the deaf unstopped;

God is certain to do all that He promised to do, but are we faithful to fear not? Are we willing to strengthen the weak, not be anxious, and to Trust God by walking by Faith? I don't know what you are going through, but I know Jesus saves. No matter how strong the storm, hard the battle, or dark the situation seems, God is greater. Free near to Him and Trust Him.

Reminders:

1) God saved us to be His witnesses. Give glory to God and Invite others to know Jesus. Since April we have Invited 1381 souls to church.

2) Visitation is Tuesday night. Food at 5:30, going at 6:15.

3) Thank you to all the Seniors for being examples for us to follow. Keep telling future generations about Jesus. Also, thank you to everyone who helped decorate, cook, clean, and attend yesterday's Senior Adult Day.

Love, Serve, Go!

Call Sin, Sin and Give Grace Freely

Church Family,

Today's Bible reading is Awesome! Throughout Scripture we find that God is willing to save any and all, but man is unwilling to hear or see God. What if God provided a way for the world to see and hear Him?

Isaiah 32:1 Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule in justice.

Isaiah 32:3-5 Then the eyes of those who see will not be closed, and the ears of those who hear will give attention. 4The heart of the hasty will understand and know, and the tongue of the stammerers will hasten to speak distinctly. 5The fool will no more be called noble, nor the scoundrel said to be honorable.

Who is this King? His name is Jesus. Jesus is going to be righteous, both carrying out justice(punishing our sin) and providing a way of salvation for our sin. Oh praise God, when we like Christ reign and rule as those who are willing to freely give grace to deal with the sin in our world. While also being faithful to call sin, sin. When we refuse to give grace we become religious and base our salvation on what we have done. When we refuse to administer justice we will call the fool noble and the noble a fool. We must trust the line that God drew in the sand between right and wrong. We must also trust in God's provision for sin, Jesus!

Isaiah 32:9 Rise up, you women who are at ease, hear my voice; you complacent daughters, give ear to my speech.

Church, we need to heed this warning for all to stop being at ease and complacent. The world is dying and going to Hell. We must stop looking for the life of ease. It is hard to hold people accountable(justice) and adminster grace, but with Christ we can do all things. The salvation of the world should stir us to stop being complacent.

Reminders:

1) Senior Adult Sunday this Sunday. Buster Benton will be speaking. Lunch afterwards. Non Seniors bring a dessert. A special thanks to the ladies for decorating the church. I'm praying for big things this Sunday.

2) Brotherhood and Baptist Young Women meeting Sept 19th at 6:30pm

3) Women's Bible Study Sept 12th at 6pm.

4) This Sunday is the beginning of the new church year. Let's start with a huge crowd for S.S.

5) Remember to tell others about Christ today and then Invite them to Church.

Sin + Sin = Sin

Church Family,

Your personal devotion time with God is the most important thing you need to do today. When the church fails to follow the Spirit of God, they add sin to sin. Without spending time with God you simply living for yourself. Adding sin to sin. Where there is no revelation(God's word) the people perish.

Isaiah 30:1 “Ah, stubborn children,” declares the LORD, “who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin;

Caught up in sin? Return to God, rest in His saving Grace, stop speaking of your works and trust in God's. Yet, many will not do this. They will continue to add sin to sin.

Isaiah 30:15 For thus said the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling,

If you do nothing else with God today, read this whole chapter.

You have: Proof of Bible being recorded v 8;  the rejection of God's word v9-12; Gracious God v18; God our Teacher v20-21 and more.

How God reveals Himself through Bread

Church Family,

We are up to 1338 Souls that have been Invited to High Point since the beginning of April. This week I'm praying that God will place people in your path that need to hear the gospel and be Invited to church. May we be Faithful to share Jesus with others. Remember you talk about what's important to you.

God is so good. I often wonder how we ever learned how to do and make certain things. I stand in awe at how God reveals Himself through nature and our everyday life.

Isaiah 28: 28-29 Does one crush grain for bread? No, he does not thresh it forever; when he drives his cart wheel over it
with his horses, he does not crush it. 29This also comes from the LORD of hosts; he is wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom.

Even in the making of bread God is revealing Himself. Take a moment today and notice God at work all around you.

Reminders:

1) Senior Adult Sunday is this coming Sunday. All non seniors are asked to bring a dessert. Buster Benton will be our guest Speaker. We will have lunch afterwards and no evening services.
