Trusting the Power and Presence of God

Church Family,

Revival is coming!

There is a theme my devotions today.

  1. Jesus tells them to take nothing.

Luke 9:1-3a And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, 2and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. 3And he said to them, “Take nothing..

  1. Jesus tells them to give them something.

Luke 9:13 But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.”

When we begin to depend on the Spirit and Power of God. He reveals the greatest parts of Himself.

  1. Jesus tells them who He is!

Luke 9:20 Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

If we will humble ourselves and trust in God to provide for our needs and to provide for our ministry. Then, I believe God will reveal Himself in powerful ways to both the disciple and non-disciple of Jesus.

Please join me in praying for revival. Draw a circle around yourself and ask God to start inside the circle and to spread from there.

Which is greater: their sin or our Savior?

Church Family,

I hope that you have a great day. We can’t wait to worship together with you this Sunday!

During my devotion time I was deeply convicted

Luke 7:39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”

Is my/your spiritual gift seeing the sinfulness/wrong doing of others? Are we so offended by someone’s sin that we forget the purpose of the gospel?

Churches are known for doing great things, but we are also known for eating our own. When we see the weakness/sinfulness of others our reaction is to judge and distance ourselves. Throughout scripture God repeatedly demonstrates that He desires mercy not judgement. This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t seek to be holy. It means that in our journey for holiness, we should desire to help others along the way.

How does judging others without offering mercy/grace hinder the gospel? Is our chief concern how sinful people are, how much money it will cost, how much damage can happen, OR is how great is our God to save, how great is our God to provide, and how powerful is our God to heal?

Reminders:

  1. Revival begins next Sunday Sept 9th at 6pm with Rev. Mack Hutson and is followed on Weds Sept. 12th at 7pm with Rev. Rodney Hord.
  2. Sept 9th during the morning service we will take up a love offering for School Blessings. We will be helping students in need and teachers with supplies.

  4. Waccamaw Association Meeting Sept. 17th at North Conway Baptist @7pm.
  5. Brotherhood Meeting Sept. 18th at 6:30
  6. Will you please plead with the Lord as we approach a time of Revival?

Praying for our Schools

Church Family,

Prayer works! This morning in my Bible reading I read about 2 older believers, Simeon and Anna, who were awaiting the coming of Christ. While waiting they worshipped and prayed to the Lord. They were Spiritually prepared.

Luke 2:25-26 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.

Luke 2:37-38 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. 38And coming up at that very hour she began to give thanks to God and to speak of him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.

Today our school year began. Thousands of children, faculty, and staff began a difficult journey of growing in knowledge. Will join me in praying for our schools? Praying in anticipation of the change that these children, faculty, and staff can make on our future in Christ. Praying for opportunities to serve in the local schools as a volunteer, good news club worker, mentor, and encourager. Praying for the second coming of Christ.

Simplify: Prayer's for Church Plants

Church Family,

We want to simplify church without limiting God. We want to do that in 3 specific ways: Prayer, The Word, and Singing. I read the song that John the Baptist’s dad sang at his birth today:

Luke 1:76-79 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, 77to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, 78because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high 79to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

I am praying for you today. May God use you to give light to those sitting in darkness.

Can I ask a favor of you? Will you please lift up our church planters today in prayer? Take a look at what God is doing in them and through your prayer, provision, and presence.

Matt Hess

Pray for revival amongst our church and network! Pray for more and more people at FP to get connected to our leadership development pipeline that we will be emphasizing this Fall.

Kesasvan Balasingham
Fellowship Church Rouge Park

Please pray for all the kids and families we had during our three weeks of kid's camp in July. A number of children wanted to make a commitment to the Lord but their parents were not interested in bringing them to church. Please pray these parents have a change of heart!

Jared Huntley
Fellowship Oshawa

Pray that the families of the children who we connected with over the past several weeks at our kid's camps would stay connected with us. Pray that those families would get plugged into our church and place their faith in Jesus.

James Greaves

Pray for the 14 kids we got to see come to Christ through our sports camps this summer. That they would be found to be good soil and the enemy would not choke out that seed.

Unbelief

Church Family,

During my Thursday devotions I finished the book of Mark. As I read I couldn’t help but think of all the times that God/believers have spoken to me, but I didn’t want to believe them. There are at least 2 occasions that instantly come to mind. One came while reading a difficult passage in 1 John and the other while out witnessing. In both situations I was wrong. I’ve struggle mightily with both things ever since. There are times where I’ve thought about quitting the ministry because how in heaven can a minister struggle to believe and understand?

Mark 16:11-13 But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it. After these things he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. 13And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.

Open confession: HOW can they ever really serve God after not believing? Do you ever doubt that you are worthy of doing ministry for God?

Mark 16:14-15 Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. 15And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation

The truth is that none of us are worthy. Our worth is found in Christ and not ourselves. Our command to minister comes from Christ and not our ambition. Throughout scripture there is a pattern: We sin, God restores, and God sends us to tell of His salvation.

Can I encourage you to not hide what Jesus saved you from? You don’t have to share the racy details, but let others know that it’s Jesus and not you that makes you different. I wonder how many are thinking that there is no way God can love me, use me, or wants me after what I’ve done?

God does love you. God wants to use you. God wants a relationship with you!

Reminders:

  1. Thank you to everyone who helped and came out for Family Fun Night!
  2. Awesome August this Sunday is Ice Cream.
