A Spirit of Power, Love, and Self-Control

Church Family,

2 Timothy 1:7 for God gave us a Spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

What a powerful and wonderful reminder today. The fear that we often experience as believers and a church is not from God. It is normally from us or a false spirit.

I must admit I needed to have a time of confession for the number of times my timidness/fear led me to doubt the power of God, love of God, and His control. Yes, we can get out of control and test God with our desires, but we can also get out of control and doubt His power and love. 2 questions I like to ask myself are this: Is this biblically correct? Is the reason I am saying no because the bible said so, or my flesh/other people’s response?

Join us this Sunday as I cast the Vision that God has laid on my heart for the next several months to a year for our church. Simplify without limiting

1) We are having Family Fun Night tonight at 6pm. Get out of the house and let the kids run off some of that energy they have built up. We are eating Baked Spaghetti, Chicken nuggets, and salad. Our games will be kickball or wiffle ball, plus the play ground and field are open.

Church Family,

Praise the Lord for a wonderful kickoff to Revival! I am so thankful for Mack coming and sharing God’s word and his heart with us last night.

Lord willing this Sunday morning the message will be entitled, “Don’t miss out!”

This morning my devotions had a great example of those who miss out. In fact, one man even had a godly answer, but still He missed out on God.

Luke 14:15-24 When one of those who reclined at table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is everyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God!” 16But he said to him, “A man once gave a great banquet and invited many. 17And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ 18But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.’ 19And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. Please have me excused.’20And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ 21So the servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and crippled and blind and lame.’ 22And the servant said, ‘Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.’ 23And the master said to the servant, ‘Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled. 24For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.’”

What excuses are you making today that the world accepts, but God doesn’t? Don't Miss Out!

By What Authority

Church Family,

Would you continue to pray and plead with God for Revival in the coming weeks?

I mentioned Wednesday night during prayer service that I needed prayer. I knew what God was saying, but I needed the courage to accept it. I can’t count the number of times that God has made something clear to me, but I fight against it and try to justify my rebellion.

Mark 11:27 And they came again to Jerusalem. And as he was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to him, 28and they said to him, “By what authority are you doing these things, or who gave you this authority to do them?” 29Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one question; answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. 30Was the baptism of John from heaven or from man? Answer me.” 31And they discussed it with one another, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’ 32But shall we say, ‘From man’?”—they were afraid of the people, for they all held that John really was a prophet. 33So they answered Jesus, “We do not know.” And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

When I falsely justify my actions based on my authority and not God’s authority I miss out on learning who Jesus fully is. So often I ask God to reveal various things, but even when He answers I find myself fighting His gracious answer. As I pray for revival, God has already revealed some difficult things in my life. Part of my prayer is that I will accept responsibility and be accountable for my sinfulness.

Can I encourage you today to wrestle with this question: By what authority are you doing the things you are doing?

Trusting the Power and Presence of God

Church Family,

Revival is coming!

There is a theme my devotions today.

  1. Jesus tells them to take nothing.

Luke 9:1-3a And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, 2and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. 3And he said to them, “Take nothing..

  1. Jesus tells them to give them something.

Luke 9:13 But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.”

When we begin to depend on the Spirit and Power of God. He reveals the greatest parts of Himself.

  1. Jesus tells them who He is!

Luke 9:20 Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

If we will humble ourselves and trust in God to provide for our needs and to provide for our ministry. Then, I believe God will reveal Himself in powerful ways to both the disciple and non-disciple of Jesus.

Please join me in praying for revival. Draw a circle around yourself and ask God to start inside the circle and to spread from there.

Which is greater: their sin or our Savior?

Church Family,

I hope that you have a great day. We can’t wait to worship together with you this Sunday!

During my devotion time I was deeply convicted

Luke 7:39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”

Is my/your spiritual gift seeing the sinfulness/wrong doing of others? Are we so offended by someone’s sin that we forget the purpose of the gospel?

Churches are known for doing great things, but we are also known for eating our own. When we see the weakness/sinfulness of others our reaction is to judge and distance ourselves. Throughout scripture God repeatedly demonstrates that He desires mercy not judgement. This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t seek to be holy. It means that in our journey for holiness, we should desire to help others along the way.

How does judging others without offering mercy/grace hinder the gospel? Is our chief concern how sinful people are, how much money it will cost, how much damage can happen, OR is how great is our God to save, how great is our God to provide, and how powerful is our God to heal?

  1. Revival begins next Sunday Sept 9th at 6pm with Rev. Mack Hutson and is followed on Weds Sept. 12th at 7pm with Rev. Rodney Hord.
