Asking the Impossible

Church Family,

Have you asked God for the impossible this morning? Have you prayed about the things that keep you up at night in a way that only God could do it and only God could get the glory?

Isaiah 48:1 Hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and who came from the waters of Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD and confess the God of Israel, but not in truth or right.

How is it that they are using the Lord's name falsely and not in truth? The rest of the chapter lays out the picture of an obstinate, hard headed, thick necked people that will ask God for things and then, when He responds, they give credit to themselves or their idols(v4-5). God has told of things to come in order to keep us from giving His glory away(v11).

So church, why ask for the Impossible? In part, because it requires us to believe God. We must trust His response. Israel cried out to God for redemption and when God provided it He also provided what they needed.

Isaiah 48:21 They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts; he made water flow for them from the rock; he split the rock and the water gushed out.

The water that flowed provided for all the people, over 2 million and animals. Think about that! Why is that so important? The rock was Jesus and the water was God's grace.

Ask God for the Impossible. Praise God for His answers. Use His name in Truth and Correctly before those around you!

Reminders:

1) We Invited 46 people this past week for a total of 1479. Is Jesus worthy of telling others about? Is our church a church that you would brag on? Tell others about? Use the name of God correctly, tell others about Him.

2) Baptist Women's meeting tonight at Frances Singleton's house at 6:30pm.

3) Brotherhood and Baptist Young Women's meeting Tuesday at 6:30 at the church.

4) Choir Practice at 5pm Sunday.

5) God can do far more than you can imagine or ask for. Pray for the Impossible. Be sure to give Him the Glory.

Love, Serve, Go
