Christmas: The Star

Church Family,

The last time I went hunting I was bored out of my mind. I don’t eat deer, quail, or dove, so I rarely hunt. On this occasion I was with a friend and we began searching out new places for him to set up a deer stand towards the end of our hunt. I had never been to the area and have never been back to the area. I kept reminding him of how to get back to our group, but he kept telling me to stop worrying, that he knew exactly where we were at. About 45 minutes into our exploration, he exclaimed, “I have no idea where we are.” After another 30 minutes are so, I began scouting out where I was going to sleep for the night and so on. It was then that we saw an oncoming truck. Oh the glorious light of that truck and the kindness of the man who took us back to where we were so supposed to be.

Numbers 24:17 I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth.

The world is lost and is wandering without direction. It will proclaim that it knows exactly where it is going. Praise be to God that He sent His son, the Star of Jacob to shine His light into our darkness. Not only that, when God sent His Son, God provided a natural GPS for others to find Jesus. God placed a bright star to lead the shepherds and the wisemen to Jesus at His birth (the shepherds) and during his childhood (the wisemen). Now that star is longer shining, so who will lead the lost and wandering to salvation. God has called believers to be the light of the world. To join together and shine a bright light into the darkness.

Are you struggling to find your way today? Are you planning on how to survive while hoping that someone will come and rescue you? That someone is Jesus. Run to Him. Find a believer or a bible and hear about the greatness of God. Believer go and shine the light in the darkness today. Share Christ with others. There is no greater gift than Jesus.
