God's a Broken Record

Church Family,

Does God ever sound like a broken record to you? Have you grown dull to hearing the same message over and over again? Have you ever accepted the challenge of obeying the message?

I must admit that reading through Jeremiah is not always the most encouraging book to go through. I delighted today when reading how like Christ, Jeremiah, proclaimed the Word of God even though his life was being threatened(14). I also rejoiced at how God placed someone in Jeremiah’s life to stand in between the gap and speak up for God and ultimately Jeremiah’s life(24). Yet, while I wish to write about those things, they are not the main subject of the chapter.

V8 says ““all the people laid hold of him, saying, “You shall die!”” and v11 they claim, “this man deserves the sentence of death.”

V 15 Only know for certain that if you put me to death, you will bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and its inhabitants, for in truth the Lord sent me to you to speak all these words in your ears.

What should blow the reader away in this chapter is that while God sent messenger after messenger the people still wouldn’t listen. They have a false morality about them that says we don’t want to kill God’s man, but we won’t listen to him either. It would be like a nation or church that heard the same message constantly and begged for a new message, but failed to realize that until they obeyed the first message, God could not send them a new one.

Can I encourage you today to ask yourself, Is there a constant theme to messages that you hear from your teachers and leaders? Do you find yourself as being full of your grace by wanting to get rid of them, but tolerating them because they are God’s man or woman? If you would be so kind, would you set your heart today to following that message, even if just for a season. You may find that just like Jeremiah, they wished to teach or lead you someone different, but can not until you obey the first commands.

I must confess that when I first started reading my bible, I somehow always came across the parable of the sower. It is a theme within my heart, to stop ignoring it’s message and take to heart what God was trying to impress upon me: The message will produce fruit, will I prepare my heart to be obedient.

Love, Serve, Go

Thank you so much Mrs. Ellen. Only God can do it, because He knows I dont have the gift of writing.
