The Spirit Promised

Church Family,

Joel 2:28-29 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. 29Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.

It is hard for me to comprehend being a believer and not having the Spirit. In the Old Testament, we see the Holy Spirit, but all believers were not filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus refers to the Spirit as the Helper and Comforter. John 16 tell us the Spirit will convict us of Sin, Righteousness, and Judgement.

The Spirit convicts us of our sin. In spite of what most teach, drinking, drugs, sex, etc. doesn’t send us to Hell. People go to Hell because they do not believe in Jesus (John 3:18) Only the Spirit can prove this to those who don’t believe.

The Spirit convicts us of righteousness. We have no righteousness apart from Jesus. Christ, who is seated at the right hand of the Father, is our righteousness. He is the way to be forgiven of our sin and to have access to the Father.

The Spirit convicts us of judgement. Now that you believe and only trust in what Jesus did to save you. You need to rightly judge that the things of this world are fading away. That only things done in Christ are eternal.
