When God Removed His Word

Church Family,

Praise God for His Mighty Hand of Salvation! Yesterday we had 2 more souls testify to the saving power of Jesus. Oh, that God would allow every service to have someone come to a saving knowledge of Jesus.

Today I have a confession. In my flesh I have a message that I would love to write to the church and hope that God would bring it to fruition. Even worse, after reading in the Book of Amos, I find that God is saying the same message that I wanted to write on. So, what do you do? In this case, I realize that my heart is deceitfully wicked about all things. My heart’s message can not produce spiritual fruit. Only the word of God can do that. Had God put that message there I would have shared in a heartbeat, but my desires put it there.

Amos 3:7-8 “For the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing his secret to his servants the prophets. 8The lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken; who can but prophesy?”

You see the key to being a disciple is hearing, listening(obeying), and sharing what God has said. Not what you desire. The danger to only hearing what you desire and not what God is saying is that it brings judgement on us.

Amos 8:11-12 “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord GOD, “when I will send a famine on the land— not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD. 12They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, to seek the word of the LORD, but they shall not find it.

Notice this, it’s not that there is a lack of God’s word, but a lack of hearing the word. The judgement: God will make His word hard to find.
