When God Removes the Church

Church Family,

Research shows that most churches are plateaued or in decline. There are many factors that have led to this, but one common problem is that they are unwilling to admit, confess, and repent of their sin.

Revelation 2:4 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

I’m not sure why we are willing to admit our imperfection, but aren’t willing to address it. While there are some who are in denial about the sin issues of their church, I really believe the majority actually see it, but don’t know how to deal with it. Our fear of facing persecution from within the church often keeps us from repentance. Let’s be honest, it is not easy to deal with our sin.

Why mention this? Read that verse again and then go to Revelation 1:20. The lampstands are the churches. God is going to remove the churches. The true church will never die, but the problem is that those who refuse to live a life walking in obedience aren’t part of the true church.

If your church is plateaued or in decline, where and what is the sin? Is the presence of God worth going through the difficulty of being brutally honest and transparent about your sin? Have you forgotten your first love, to tell others about Jesus? V4 says, Remember therefore where you have fallen. If the glory days of the church are in the past, then what decision was made that hindered/halted the glory days?
