Central Passage

The world often tells us what we can do and who we should be. Whether it be because of our age, color, size, etc. Listen as we celebrate our Seniors by challenging them to Be Who They Shouldn't Be

Pastor's Notes:

I don’t think I have a thing that I can teach you. My hope is to remind you this morning of the greatness of God and that He has a plan for you.

Be known by what you shouldn’t do. In other words, be known for what people don’t think you can do. You shouldn’t be able to accomplish that task.

Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

1 Samuel 33:17 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.

Romans 4:17-19 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:

This is my challenge to you Seniors today. Be known for what you shouldn’t be doing at this stage in life. Be an Abraham, Sarah, Esther, Moses, Jesus, Paul

Tell me what I think I know but have no clue about.

- Abraham had to speak into the life of Lot, even though he didn’t listen.

- Multiple times he had to rescue Lot and plead for Lot.

Tell me what I don’t know

- Be like Moses and shared who God is with Israel

- How to approach God

- How to worship God

- Warned them what not to do

- Prayed for them when they didn’t listen

Tell me how God is good. Let me know its going to be okay.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

- Be like Joseph, when we are sold out by those we cared about

o Teach me how forgiveness sets you free

- Be like Paul, who praised God from the prison cell

- Be like David, who prayed for his child’s life and then praised God when he couldn’t come back, but we can go to the child!

- Be a Noah, who preached to the wicked and NO ONE LISTENED, but God was still worthy.

You are supposed to be too old, too tired, you’ve done your part, now it’s time for others, too ornery, too set in your ways, too judgmental, too fill-in-the-blank! Be KNOWN FOR WHAT YOU SHOULDN’T DO!

Let us stand and review your life with a shout of praise to God for the gift that He gave us through you. Let us tell the future generations of your wisdom, kindness, giving, and desperation to be Jesus to everyone you meet. Let us give praise to God as you use your voice to call us to a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Don’t look for us to serve you, serve us. Set the example that so much of the world has forgotten.

Need your testimony

Need your prayers

Need your instruction

We need the ONE that has saved you

Jesus shouldn’t have been our savior. He wasn’t pretty enough, manly enough, he was too young, too poor, too weak…… but we know Him for what He shouldn’t done.

We know Him for dying on the cross for our sins, being buried, and raised to life on the third day!

He should’ve consumed us all with His wrath, but He gave a savior instead!
