Pride and arrogance of the heart

Church Family,

Today in my reading I have come across a type of pride that still prevails in the world today.

Isaiah 9:9-11 and all the people will know, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and in arrogance of heart: 10“The bricks have fallen, but we will build with dressed stones; the sycamores have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.” 11But the LORD raises the adversaries of Rezin against him,
and stirs up his enemies.

The Pride and Arrogance of our Hearts says what we will do, but the Lord proclaims the Truth. God does not boast falsely. Many think that at any moment they can change the direction of their life, family, church, business, etc. Yet only God has such power. He makes this clear in verses 6-7 when talks about sending the ultimate life changer. I believe that a part of the reason so many are depressed, beaten down, and discouraged is that they believe the lie that they can change their life at any moment, only to find that this is too great a task. Only God can do such a powerful thing. Pride comes before the fall. Pride has caused people, nations, churches, and businesses to fall. May I encourage you to join me, by humbling ourselves before the Lord. He and He alone can save us.

Fear, the common excuse of sin

Church Family,

We are up to 1215 invitations to church. Take moment and let that sink in. 1215 souls being invited to church. Yet, dont let up Inviting now for 2 mains reasons: God has commanded us to go and there are lost souls going to Hell unless we get the gospel to them.

Today I read Isaiah 8:13 But the LORD of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

Isaiah and the people of Israel are in a tough spot. The people are calling what is good, evil and what is evil, good. God reminds Isaiah and us to not fear man or let them be a dread to us. We are to honor God as Holy. God is reminding us to fear and dread not keeping God Holy. So often we fear what people think of us and allow that fear to be our excuse to live in sin rather than holiness.

God asks, What more?

Church Family,

We are at the Family Summer Camp and so far it has been a blast. I am currently watching at a distance as the boys are playing hand ball. Without being told to they made sure the youngest boy not only got a hit, but made a homerun. No doubt this is because of how the parents raised them. What was put into them by the parents has produced such an amazing moment.

In my bible reading this morning I read Isaiah 5:4 What more was there to do for my vineyard, that I have not done in it?
When I looked for it to yield grapes, why did it yield wild grapes?

What more? God is asking. Is there any more that God needs to do? Think of the power of this question.

What has the love of God produced in your life? Can I encourage you today to take sometime praising God for the wonderful things that His love has produced in your life.

Reminders:

1) Pray for our summer camp. Ask that God saves the lost, grows the faith of the saved, and brings glory to His name.

2) Make sure you check out the latest softball schedule. I dont have all the results but I know they won again last night.

3) Its never too late to tell someone about Jesus. I am praying to the Lord that He would give you a Spirit of boldness and courage as you intentional look to share your faith. Invite people to Jesus, Invite people to worship.

Failure to lead begins with a failure to follow

Church Family,

Today in my reading I came across one of the saddest judgements made against Israel. All of chapter 3 and 4 are worth reading to understand more.

Isaiah 3:1-4 For behold, the Lord GOD of hosts
is taking away from Jerusalem and from Judah
support and supply,
all support of bread,
and all support of water;
2the mighty man and the soldier,
the judge and the prophet,
the diviner and the elder,
3the captain of fifty
and the man of rank,
the counselor and the skillful magician
and the expert in charms.
4And I will make boys their princes,
and infants shall rule over them
.

When a generation refuses to follow God they will force the next unprepared generation to lead. When followship fails in the people of God, God often disciplines them with unprepared/poor leadership. There is a lot more to be learned and said but for times sake let me remind you of this: 1) God never changes, but His people should be changed/transformed by Him every day. 2) Paul mentions that the church shouldn't change certain traditions, preaching, singing, reading your bible, etc But that also implies that the church should be changing in order to reach the next generation and the lost community. 3) When failing to lead destroys all generations, but that failure begins with a refusal to live by Faith.

Full of what?

Church Family,

During my Bible reading this morning I read, Isaiah 2:6 For you have rejected your people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of things from the east and of fortune-tellers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with the children of foreigners.

The church is suppose of be a place where we are in the world but not of the world. We are also supposed to distinguish between that which is holy and unholy. The nation of Israel failed to do that. As a result they became more afraid of the people, than of God. Isaiah 2:22 Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?

May we strive to be full of the Holy Spirit and not the things of this world. May we also strive to please God, even when it costs us the wrath of our fellow man.

Reminders:

1) We are up to 1194 Invites since April. Praise the Lord for your faithfulness to tell others about Jesus and His Church.

2) Summer Camp is this Thursday thru Saturday. Email me if you haven't let me know that you are going.

3) What a wonderful time we had worshipping together yesterday. I am so thankful for the testimony that God laid on Ashley Silvey heart.

4) Last year at this time I began keeping track of the monthly website statistics for the church. Each month I print off the stats and compare them to the previous months. The reason being is that most people will visit our website before ever attending our church. In fact, many call church websites the "front door" of the church. The 3 areas I pay most attention to are the number of HOME page visits, GUESTBOOK visits, and SERMONS listened to.

For the last year we have had 10,253 Home page visits. Thats 28 visits a day.  5681 Guestbook visits, 15.5 visits a day.

18,276 Sermons listed to, 50 a day.

There are a lot of other things I would like to do to improve the use of our website, but I am limited in my computer skills. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve our website? I always appreciate your feedback
