Noah, Daniel, and Job

Church Family,

To say that I struggled to obey as a child is an understatement. I often thought of crazy scenarios to present as reason to disobey. I might have been told to sit right there, but I would ask, what if a snake comes? Or bad person? Etc. So sometimes I would be told to do something, and my parents didn’t care if the President or some other high ranking official told me to move, don’t do it. You know the, “I don’t care if _______________ himself tells you to move, don’t do it” talk.

Ezekiel 14:12-14 And the word of the LORD came to me: 13“Son of man, when a land sins against me by acting faithlessly, and I stretch out my hand against it and break its supply of bread and send famine upon it, and cut off from it man and beast,14even if these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would deliver but their own lives by their righteousness, declares the Lord GOD.

V21 list 4 scenarios, “my four disastrous acts of judgment, sword, famine, wild beasts, and pestilence” that God is going to send. God basically says, I don’t care if Noah, Daniel, and Job are all 3 there, they can’t save you.

Yet, there is ONE that God sent who can save us. Jesus doesn’t promise to remove the sword, famine, wild beasts, or pestilence, but He does promise to save us from the eternal wrath of God. Earlier in the chapter the “good/great” men of the area came to inform Ezekiel about the ways of the Lord. They were there to give God some advice. This is a reminder that no matter how “good/great” we think we are, no one can do what God can do, but God.

Who is your faith in? Are you trusting in the advice of men or the Word of God? Consider this, Isn’t God good to allow there to be temporary pains and trials when we stray away from Him? The brokenness we experience is actually an act of Grace on God’s part to reveal our need to Repent and turn back to Him.

  1. Prayer meeting tonight. Can’t wait to go to the throne of Grace with you.
  2. March 1st Chicken Bog Fundraiser. Thank you to everyone for all the support and help. Please continue to seek others to sell to and make plans to help that morning if possible.
  3. This Sunday the Toronto Mission Team will be meeting briefly after the morning service and then again at 4:45pm.

Love, Serve, Go
